The University of Texas at Dallas is partnering with the city of Richardson to support the region’s startup and entrepreneur community by establishing a physical presence in the Richardson Innovation Quarter. UT Dallas will locate five new research centers and an extension of its Venture Development Center in the district, also known as the Richardson IQ or The IQ. A 1,200-acre hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, the initiative aims to stimulate collaboration across businesses, attract new jobs and strengthen partnerships between the University, the city and the business community. The five centers include: Center for Applied AI and Machine Learning, Center for Imaging and Surgical Innovation, Multi-scale Integrated Interactive Intelligent Sensing Center, Center for Smart and Connected Mobility, and the Center for Applied AI at the Richardson IQ.
Dallas - Girl Scouts STEM Center of Excellence: The STEM Center of Excellence is a sprawling 92-acre living laboratory located in south Dallas that provides year-round opportunities in robotics, computer coding, botany, chemistry and more. Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas are changing the workforce pipeline in STEM to meet the urgent need for female voices, engagement and leadership in the fastest growing sector of the U.S. economy. New elements include a smart greenhouse, AI geospatial exploration app, data analytics 'control room' and robotics makerspace.
North Texas - The North Texas Center for Mobility Technologies (NTCMT): NTCMT brings coordinated expertise of Dallas-Fort Worth research universities to tackle mobility technology challenges across Texas, nationally, and globally. It handlse challenges in areas such as: autonomous vehicles, 5G, EVTOL, electric motors, micro mobility, drones, Lidar, radar, machine vision, freight, drones, first mile, last mile, networking, network splicing, object avoidance, multi-modal, on-demand mobility, last mile, personal mobility, micro mobility, fuel cells, battery, electric motors, motor controllers, route planning and more. NTCMT is a program of the Texas Research Alliance (TRA).
Dallas County - Dallas County Promise: Dallas County Promise launched in the fall of 2017 — promising graduating seniors from 31 area high schools, free tuition at any Dallas County Community College Campuses: no strings attached. Campus “success coaches” will help students navigate any bumps they encounter along the way– hoping to help make sure those who start college, also finish. Supporters say the program has already led to double digit college enrollment growth from some of Dallas County’s poorest communities.
